This is my second time doing this in this lifetime. It's much more unnerving this time.

RULES:

1. Put your music player on shuffle.

2. Press forward for each question.

3. Use the song title as the answer to the question even if it doesn't make sense.

NO CHEATING!

How are you feeling today? The Weeping Song – Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds.

Will you get far in life? Karma Police - Radiohead (so this could be very good or very bad)

Will you get married? Over and Over – Hot Chip (oh my fucking god)

What is your best friend(s)'s theme song? Sugar Daddy – Fanny Pack (Oh, I WISH)

What is the story of your life? Art Star – Yeah Yeah Yeahs (oh my fucking god)

What was/is/will high school like? Blue Turning Gray – Clap Your Hands Say Yeah

How can you get ahead in life? Strung Out Again – Elliot Smith (so I guess I’m good to go, then?)

What is the best thing about your friends? Ice Storm, Big Gust, and You – Tilly & The Wall (Totally!!)

What is in store for this weekend? The Power is on – The Go! Team (word!)

To describe your grandparents? Wolf Notes – The Fiery Furnaces. (I don’t know)

How is your life going? Let’s Go To Bed – The Cure (mmmmhmm)

How does the world see you? All Eyes on Me – 2Pac (Well, I guess if you really want to be meta about it, fucker).

Will you have a happy life? There is a War – Leonard Cohen (How I roll for sure)

What do your friends really think of you? Into the Death – Atari Teenage Riot (That’s Duenda you see in my eyes, yes)

Do people secretly lust after you? A Coral Room – Kate Bush (Like, in their lush, watery dreams)

How can I make myself happy? Changes – David Bowie (hahahah!! HAHAHAHAHAH!!)

What should you do with your life? Love is a Deserter – The Kills (Breaking up via itunes? Is this a first?)

Will you ever have children? Speed Garage – God Speed You! Black Emperor (That means I’ll give birth on speed. In a garage. Sounds good)

Rosemary's Baby, etc.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I finally saw it. I finally saw it last night. After finally seeing it, I went on what can only be described as a diatribe (I think that’s a step above “rant,” no?), with much forceful hand gesticulation, my voice loud enough for Graeme to be concerned that I’d wake the neighbours, as I screamed about the colour blue, the use of camera shots as steadfastly maintained motifs and how it’s impossible for any artist to have any sort of coherent relationship with his work outside structure ("God Is Dead," is he, Time Magazine?). Which was apparently why Derrida was both right, and so very wrong in what he preached and who he was, respectively. I mean, here’s a fun fact I ran across on the net: You are familiar with the 6 Signs of Kevin Bacon, right? Well, here is something similar I came across on the IMDb that is extremely interesting: Roman Polanski's pregnant wife was murdered by Charles Manson and his family, whose story is told in the book Helter Skelter, the title coming from the song by the Beatles member John Lennon, who was killed by a born-again Christian in The Dakota, a Manhattan apartment building where "Rosemary's Baby" took place. Now that I’m all torn up and pleasantly reactionary, I’d like to say that if you’re like me, and have yet to see this film for some ignorant or woeful reason: you should! My viewing experience consisted of autistic back-and-forth rocking, and yelling at the screen. And I wasn’t aware of how stupid I must have looked while I was doing that at all. I also recommend Nóz w wodzie (Knife in the Water), which I believe was Polanski’s first feature-length production and made a bit of a political splash as it showed the existence of the Polish upper middle class - a class that wasn't supposed to exist. The short ones he did while still at film school: Rozbijemy zabawe (Break Up the Dance), Morderstwo (A Murderer), Dwaj ludzie z szafa (Two Men and a Wardrobe) and Lampa (the Lamp), are also all worth seeing. In fact, here, Youtube is being good to us all today (though the quality is obviously quite poor – however! I still go a bit crazy for the camera angles and lighting):

1. the Lamp:

2. Two Men and a Wardrobe:

3. Opening scene from Knife in the Water (Polish with English subtitles)

Ok. Someone's gotta help me out here - top lefthand corner: is that a painting in the sky or am I going even more nuts than usual?

no, no, he "likes" this photo.

"No, I like this photo; it's like the kitchen door is the gateway to heaven and you're st. peter. or something." (graeme)

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

totally st. peter. graeme is now in bed, in a red kimono, underlining stuff in the nighttown chapter of ulysses, so i think i'm going to head back to bed. this day has been much too long. funny. yesterday was much too long as well. this photo comes as close as i can remember to a technically-sufficient self portriat (the lighting, tones and pose work for me in a way the others don't). goodnight! this stuff doesn't have a way of ending easily. or so i think.

the self, the dualism, the time

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Hi. Apparently, it’s self-portrait time. I both love and hate self portraits. Just as much as I both love and hate talking about myself. The last person I let take a picture of me was Graeme, and that was only because I was much too drunk to notice and protest as I'd normally do. I'm becoming much too shy. Must recover from that. The automatic settings (which are the ONLY SETTINGS) on this digital crack me up. I may or may not hate them. OK, so I hate them. My current life is rushing. During a meeting today one of my profs said something about “chasing time” and that phrase doesn't only relate to the concept of my project - I'm clever with application like that. I guess PROJECT is the key word. PROJECT, so many of those. PROJECT: realized today how many elements of DUALISM the PROJECT contained. The half of the apartment you see in the above photo is the clean half of the apartment. The other half needs a bit of WORK, as everything needs some WORK. Xavier, I'm so, so SO happy you're coming down here. Just can't wait. Well, I actually CAN'T WAIT (literarily) -it's not exactly an option for me right now. Go, go-go, gogogogogo. Take a snapshot along the way:

and . . .i'm still irritated with the fact that photobucket keeps changing the shadows and tones of my original photograph

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

In the original photo, the sky ACTUALLY HAS BLUES IN IT.

Posted by caroline at 2:17 AM

photobucket, a memoir of use - would it kill them to give me just one ounce of my original resolution? really??

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Anyway, resolution-based whinning aside, I rather like Graeme's ultimate cuteness in this one.

I took some film photos with my camera too. They'll be ready on Sunday. We're off to celebrate Jame's Joyce's birthday. I'm already wearing green underwear. Exciting.
