Wow, that was me last week.... *waves to Caroline from Calgary*

Eh, I dunno. I think it's my past with comics. I have trouble finding them amusing because I know how seriously the people who make them take themselves and their work.

However, iIcan't begin to tell you about my homicidal feelings towards my neighbour's children. Caro. You've never heard a child scream So.... Much... And the parents, they must either just leave them alone to torture each other or really not care, I can't tell. I feel like screming out my window for someone to shut them up. About four times a day. But then I remind myself that it won't make any difference. They'll still scream, and grow up to be ugly anglo-pakistani monsters who attack people on street corners.

Heh, welcome to the ASBO-riddled reality of living in the UK, Xavier. No well-behaved WASPy children of the Canadian suburbs here - only nasty, dirty, uniformed under-age binge-drinkers, smokers, skanky whore chavs.
Bitter? Moi?
Never!

Steph,

well shit--I've meant to reply to your email Some Time Ago. I feel badly for not giving you a note back sooner. I'm becoming terrible with emails. There's so much to say to too many people. That's why I can find them a bit draining. That's partially why I keep this blog. Other than that: hey! this blog is becoming like some sort of shot in the dark high school reunion. hoollllllyyyy shiiiiittt. And good (and strange!) to hear from you.

Xavier,

comics? when have I ever been "into" comics? like: never. hence the title. though' I most enjoyed the darkhaired girl's well wrought expression of THAT in every panel.

as for your story of survival (thus far), all I can say is that I’ve been there--living next door to awful, awful, hell-raising kids that never fail to keep the blood at a low, barely contained boil. as much as I shirk away from any encounter or thought of kids, rowdy behavior is the fault of the parents and you're right to point that out. I will never understand how some people could care less. my thought is: if that's how much you care, may as well sell the kids on the black market for some (probably) much needed cash and just get your statement to the world over with. and, lastly, those kids are in every (usually) poorer neighborhood in the world--not just where you are. let's not get me started on economic stress and all that. better to put the head phones on, stuff nose into book and block the world out. because That Thing/Place will always irritate.

you have my sympathies as ever. xoxoxoxo

WHEN ALL WE WANT IS . . . . .peace.

peaceful, quiet, quiet times.

You're right. It's the poverty. Some parents can't afford to care. Literally. I agrre with the black market tactic. Kills two birds with one stone, and possibly the annoying kids too. (Gosh. My vitriol has reached a new low [high?]).
Yes of course, music and books, but there's the few seconds where I'm lunging for the computer to turn on itunes that remains unbearable. Thanks for the sympathy. It actually does help.

Dude, I was SO into comics in my mid teens. I even had my OWN. SIIIIIIIICK!
Some sordid attempt at tragic teen manga...
I know, I know...

I WAS YOUNG AND I NEEDED THE MONEY!

LOL, it's like the bit in Python's "Meaning of Life" where the dad comes home and tells his 300 kids that he's selling them for medical experiments... and then they all sing "Every Sperm is Sacred." That's good times.
And hello there, Steph! I hear about your adventures from Mel - good to hear you got out of that place with the evil boss!

No big deal Caroline, lately I've become the queen of not answering/forgetting about emails :P So busy, and really nothing too exciting is going on, if I write back it's usually along the lines of..... "Uh yeah, so I work....and that's about it"
If you ever swing by Calgary we can become caught up with our life stories so far.

Love your blog btw, it puts mine to shame. The pictures you've taken are really good!

And a big hello to Julia! It's been so long....Mel has kept me updated with things that have gone on in your life as well. Now I have the "Every Sperm is Sacred" song stuck in my head, thanks so much!
