update: the upgrade seems to have gone well. I'm going to bed. Please leave comments here if you have any problems.
Can you see this entry?

I seem to be posting a question to myself.
Ah ha! I think for all the new features and bells and whistles and spliced infinitives (of where there are none in this terrible sentence) we will need to upgrade the templates on each of our blogs. I wonder how to do that. Can't be too hard...
And there are a whole what of spam control features to consider and turn on and such. That will be a happy day for me! (slightly over ten thousand spam comments have been deleted in NSN's lifetime.)
AND and there will be a lot of things we can do to make everything pretty and fancy. But that will have to wait a little while.

This seems to be working.

glib: ask youtube.com -- that ain't my doing, and works for me.
glib 2: example?
I'm sure it is fixable. I just don't know enough to find the problem. ie: I cannot see the problem.
Also, I don't know what you might have done to try to "fix" it (your quotes, not mine) but I can't see a different, seems to work ok.

i "unfixed" it.
for an example: if you go to the month of October, let's say, in the archives the whole page will have funny little question marks encased in black diamonds. not the bling-bling dark pop star kind, either. the ERROR signifier kind. i don't know here . . .what do they mean?
what isn't it reading the script properly all of a sudden?
i wisg i knew what to tinker with.
argh.

You're having a character encoding problem on your blog. I suspect you are writing it in MS Word or something and copying and pasting. It is the copy/paste process that is (probably) causing the problem.
As for fixing it... I don't know. More research is required.

ah, yes. that's exactly what i do: write it in ms word (mac) and paste in case the server shuts down as I'm writing and loses all my scribbles. I'm obsessed with backing things up, especially after my last PC crashed. that's funny though - i've never had a problem with that until now. the characters it's not picking up are the apostrophe and the dash (of all things - simple characters!). eeeesh. at least it has the period down pat . . .i don't understand why it would suddenly be a problem, though. hmm.
