Billet a gay American?
By SUN MEDIAOTTAWA -- A Canadian couple has launched an online billeting program to help gay Americans trying to flee their homeland.
How stupid. Sure, the American Civil Rights movement has taken a huge shock. The queer community is pretty much under attack, as are all the non-white, non-christian, non-conservative elements of American Society. Same sex marriage is very illegal throughout the country. So called faith based charitable organizations get giant government funding grants, leaving non-secular wells running dry.
Should you leave?
Don't be stupid. America needs Americans, real Americans who believe in Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happyness. America needs people to stand up for what they believe in, not run away like a bunch of cowering, wounded dogs.
If you leave, then the wacky-rightys will have a majority (I don't think they do now) and things are just going to get worse and worse. Maybe the USA is sliding into a totalitarian, right wing, fascist theocracy. You have a responsibility to try to prevent it.
Join the ACLU, join the Electronic Frontier Foundation, or any other Civil Rights advocate. Let people know that you dissagree. Join a political party and stand up for your rights and for your country.
Unless, of course, they reinstute the draft. Get the hell out if they do and don't look back.

November 17, 2004TO THOSE Americans who are considering running off to our neighbor to the north -- Canada -- because of George W. Bush's reelection, I say, "don't do it, we need you here."

What most Americans don't appreciate is that "Gay America" isn't going back in the closet. This is just another battle to be won or lost. It's a good sign, though, that it's too soon to be complacent.
