I see the light

I need a desk that supports both a laptop and a desktop computer. I think that means that I need two desks. I definitely need another power supply and some more room.

Now I'm going to stop procrastinating and do some calculus.

ben:

We could all use some more space. One day we're going to have our own offices seperate from our bedrooms. Well, studio-offices.

I want an office I can bring clients to, two computers.
I want a workbench where I can work on my computers (seperate from the office, and less tidy).
I want a workbench that I can use just for making wine.

I don't want too much, do I?

haha:

Mix the two... start calculating the area of the required space...

Area of the desk = integral of (dx * dy) for a square table; integral of (d-theta * dr) for a circular table;

& of course if you want to start thinking about space for the wine you get more complicated
Volume of the wine = integral of (dx * dy * dz) for a square table; integral of (d-theta * dr * dz) for the circular table; OR my personal favourite: integral of (d-theta * d-phi * dr) for anything more complicated that you want to image.

After that you can start worrying about the amount of weight that the table needs to support by introducing (dw) or for robustness (g * dm)
