Turns out that wine isn't nearly as forgiving as everybody said it would be.
"Oh look, you screwed up each and every step! Ha Ha, I'm going to turn into vinegar over night."
At least the drain will be very clean now, and I can start again. Oh yes. I WILL START OVER AND MAKE THE BEST WINE EVER!!!!!!1

From my limited knowledge of wine making that is non-existant on a first hand basis but quite extensive on a second hand basis ... and assuming that you are using a wine kit.
My experience is that Rule #1 inexpensive wine kits make vinegar, moderate wine kits make make wine that passes the lowest standard and that expensive wine kits are the only way to go. & Rule #2 make sure that you sterlize and keep everything clean.
