Been watching heaps of movies and playing the guitar of late. Last night watched Aeon Flux which was pretty good. I've been getting my hands on heaps of westerns and super-hero movies of late and lovin' them more the worse they get.
Working on an album. Will have a CD release party in late November, and will try to pitch my sound to some of the minor labels around town. We got a good sound and the musicians I'm working with are in the pocket.
Tonight I'm going to rock Roppongi again. It's total shit-hole or high-class bonanaza. My family took me out to a dutch restaurant in Roppongi a few weeks ago for one of the best dining experiences in my life.
Tonight though, I gotta think of a place to eat.
My telephone has been receiving too many messages at one a.m. from untrustworthy types.
I've been dropping my articles. In this country, you don't need 'em.
Took it easy last night in Shimo. Went to Asian Trip for a couple drinks with a cute Japanese girl. Had soup and shrimp. Then off to the French restaurant to enjoy wine on the roof. Conversations of Europe backdropped by the Shinjuku skyscraper district a few clicks away. We sat in these chairs shaped like hands. Spoke a little French to the waitstaff. I think I should move to France, sometimes. Learn to cook.
Went back to Kawasaki to my new hangout -- a soul bar in a basement. The staff drink freely from the taps and speak English. We made plans to go to an Okonomiyaki restaurant, but we'll see.
Last weekend I went into the Kansai region (Kyoto, Nara, and Tenri) for some sweet reggae bars, Japanese practice, and intruding in on Buddhist monk prayer in the pre-dawn. Geisha spotting, a few temples. Was driven around by distant Japanese relatives. Driven. So good. A few divey okonomiyaki restaurants. Kansai-ben is a hell of a lot different from Kanto.
Week before a few all nighters in Shibuya. Met up with a fellow teacher and a couple of his friends and we danced until we decided on beer and eggs for breakfast. Made plans to meet up the next day for some dinner and karaoke. Mongols rock!
Went to a baseball game today with the family. Last night in town before they return to the homeland. It'll be nice to return to my hovel and eat rice and watch movies for the next while, though I'm trying to get a few people hooked on the idea of Gyoza stadium this weekend. Got free tickets. . .
